Salads w/ a Japanese twist

Almost everybody I know loves Japanese food.  Here are some salads we enjoy at home just because they taste “Japanese”.  The first one was introduced by my mom who loves to experiment when it comes to what to put into salads:

  • greens (lettuce head or romaine)
  • peppers (red, green or whatever color you can find)
  • cucumbers
  • carrots
  • corn (canned)
  • dressing: rice wine vinegar, kikkoman soy sauce, mirin)
  • add strips of seaweed just before serving

This next one is a recent discovery that I figured out from eating at a Japanese joint we frequent:

  • greens
  • peppers
  • cucumbers
  • carrots
  • tomatoes
  • dressing:  home made thousand island with wasabe
  • sprinkle with fish roe
