I AM helpmeet to my loving husband who is also my best friend. It is our desire to obey God’s command as found in Deuteronomy 6:1-5:
1 These are the commands, decrees and laws the LORD your God directed me to teach you to observe in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess, 2 so that you, your children and their children after them may fear the LORD your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life. 3 Hear, O Israel, and be careful to obey so that it may go well with you and that you may increase greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the LORD, the God of your fathers, promised you.
4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. [a] 5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
Also in Matthew 22:36-38:
36“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38This is the first and greatest commandment.
Educating our 5 children at home has allowed us to do with God’s commands as He would like us: “Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” (Deut 6:7).
It is also our burden to go and make disciples as Jesus commanded us (Matthew 28:18-20) and we recognize that our first and foremost disciples are those within our household. So, with my husband as primary provider of our family and myself as primary keeper of our home, we share the responsibility of ensuring that we shepherd the young hearts of our children. We do this realizing that we are merely God’s sinful and imperfect stewards, ourselves being worked on still by our one and only Heavenly Father.
We realize it will be quite a journey so we’d like to make sure we keep a record of what happens along the way. We are a forgetful people and it is always good to have something to look back to. This will also be a great way to follow the progress we make.
Hopefully, you can learn with us along our journey!
